Shi Jiuyong was a Chinese jurist who lived from 9 October 1926 to 18 January 2022. He taught international law at Beijing's Foreign Affairs College from 1984 and represented China in major international negotiations, including discussions over the status of Hong Kong, while serving as a member and chairman of the United Nations International Law Commission. He was elected a judge of the International Court of Justice in 1994 and served until 2010, becoming the Court's President in 2003, the first Chinese national to hold that office.
