Sayf al-Din al-Amidi, also known as Muhammad al-Amidi, was an influential Muslim jurist and theologian who lived from 1156 to 1233. Born in Diyarbakir, he was Hanbali early in his career before turning to the Shafii school, and worked chiefly in Baghdad, Cairo, and Damascus, dying in Damascus.
