Sarosh Homi Kapadia

Sarosh Homi Kapadia (1947 to 2016) was the thirty-eighth Chief Justice of India, serving from May 2010 to September 2012, and the first Chief Justice born after the partition of India. A Zoroastrian from Mumbai who began his career as a class IV government employee and law clerk before becoming an advocate at the Bombay High Court in 1974, he became a judge of that court in 1991, Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court in 2003, and a judge of the Supreme Court of India later that year. As Chief Justice he administered the oath of office to President Pranab Mukherjee in 2012.
