Nathan Roscoe Pound lived from 1870 to 1964 and was an American legal scholar and educator who served as dean of the University of Nebraska College of Law from 1903 to 1911 and as dean of Harvard Law School from 1916 to 1936. He later taught at Northwestern University, the University of Chicago Law School and, from 1949 to 1952, the UCLA School of Law in its early years. The Journal of Legal Studies has identified Pound as one of the most cited legal scholars of the twentieth century.
