Ronald Davison (1920-2015) was a New Zealand lawyer and jurist who served as the tenth Chief Justice of New Zealand from 1978 to 1989. Born in Kaponga, he served in the New Zealand Army and Royal New Zealand Air Force during the Second World War before completing his law degree at Auckland University College in 1947. He gained prominence presiding over the trial following the sinking of the Rainbow Warrior, sentencing the French agents responsible to ten years' imprisonment, and later chaired the Winebox Inquiry into overseas company taxation from 1994 to 1997 and a 1994 inquiry that led to changes in child protection law. He died in Auckland in 2015.
