Romuald Hube (1803 to 1890) was a Polish law scholar and codifier who studied in Warsaw and Berlin, where his teachers included Friedrich Carl von Savigny and Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, before lecturing at the University of Warsaw from 1825. After the November Uprising of 1831 he moved to Saint Petersburg, where he served on the Legislative Commission for Poland working on criminal codes, rose to Privy Councilor and Senator of the Russian Empire, founded the legal journal Themis Polska, and published influential studies of Roman law, Polish legal history and Slavic inheritance rights.
