Why did Cambodia have two prime ministers when Norodom Ranariddh took office?
Both FUNCINPEC and the CPP agreed to a dual prime minister arrangement.
Ranariddh accepted the idea of his party, FUNCINPEC, working with the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), and both parties agreed to a dual prime minister arrangement in the new government. On 14 June a parliamentary meeting that he presided over made Sihanouk the Head of State, with Hun Sen and Ranariddh serving as co-Prime Ministers in an interim government.
