Robin Geiss, born in 1974, is a German international legal scholar who has served as director of the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research since April 2021. He previously held the Swiss Chair of International Humanitarian Law at the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights and worked as a legal adviser for the International Committee of the Red Cross, and he remains an affiliate professor at the University of Glasgow School of Law. His research addresses international humanitarian law, global security and emerging military technologies, including contributions to the Tallinn Manual on how international law applies to cyberspace operations, with particular focus on autonomous weapons systems and cyber warfare.
