Robert Smith (1858-1942) was a Canadian lawyer, politician and puisne justice of the Supreme Court of Canada who practiced law in Cornwall, Ontario after his admission to the Ontario Bar in 1885, and represented Stormont in Parliament as a Liberal member from 1909 to 1911. He was appointed to Ontario's High Court Division in 1922 and its Appellate Division in 1924, and on May 18, 1927, Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King appointed him, at age 67, to the newly created seventh seat on the Supreme Court of Canada. He served until his death in 1942, having retired from active duties in December 1933; no successor was appointed for over a year afterward.
