Ranulf de Glanvill, also spelled Glanvil, Glanville or Granville, died in 1190 and was Chief Justiciar of England during the reign of King Henry II, from 1154 to 1189. He was the probable author of the Tractatus de legibus et consuetudinibus regni Anglie, known in English as the Treatise on the Laws and Customs of the Kingdom of England, the earliest treatise on the laws of England.
