Placentinus was an Italian jurist and glossator who originated from Piacenza and died in 1192. He taught at the University of Bologna before establishing the law school at the University of Montpellier in 1160, playing a foundational role in medieval legal education by helping spread the study of Roman law beyond Italy into southern France during the twelfth century.
