Peter Wallace Rodino Jr., born Pelligrino Rodino Jr., lived from June 7, 1909 to May 7, 2005 and was an American politician who served in the United States House of Representatives from New Jersey from 1949 to 1989, representing parts of Newark and surrounding Essex and Hudson counties. A liberal Democrat, he rose to prominence as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, where he oversaw the 1974 impeachment hearings against President Richard Nixon that eventually led to Nixon's resignation.
