Sir Percy Henry Winfield was a British legal scholar born in Norfolk in 1878 and dying in 1953. He served as Rouse Ball Professor of English Law at Cambridge University from 1928 to 1943 and was a fellow of St John's College, Cambridge, and of the British Academy. He wrote extensively on tort, contract and international law, most notably A Text-Book of the Law of Tort, which became a foundational text in the field and secured his standing as a leading legal theorist of the twentieth century.
