Pedro Hernandez Chavez is a Peruvian magistrate who became president of the Constitutional Tribunal of Peru on September 4, 2026, elected by the tribunal plenary for the 2026-2028 term. He joined the tribunal in December 2023 after Congress elected him with 103 votes to replace magistrate Augusto Ferrero Costa, who had died in office, making him the last member appointed by the previous Congress. At his swearing-in he named reducing the tribunal case backlog as a priority and pledged to lead the court with independence and legal rigor.
