Ormr Snorrason was an Icelander who lived from about 1315 to 1403 and worked for the Norwegian crown as sheriff, lawman and governor. He inherited the major Icelandic estate of Skard after his father's death in 1332. He is closely tied to three important Icelandic manuscripts produced at the Helgafell monastery: the Codex Scardensis, which he donated in 1401, the Skardsbok, which contains the Jonsbok law code, and the now-lost Ormsbok, a collection of chivalric sagas.
