Oddny Mjoll Arnardottir is an Icelandic lawyer, human rights academic and judge born on 16 January 1970 in Reykjavik. She earned a doctorate from the University of Edinburgh Law School in 2002 with a thesis on equality and non-discrimination under the European Convention on Human Rights, then served as a professor of human rights law at Icelandic universities and as a judge on the Icelandic Court of Appeals and the Court on the Reopening of Judicial Proceedings, while also holding a research professorship at the University of Iceland since January 2018. She was elected Icelands judge at the European Court of Human Rights for a nine-year term and has served since 15 March 2023, the first woman to hold that seat.
