Nicolaas Jacobus de Wet (11 September 1873 to 16 March 1960) was a South African politician, lawyer and judge who served as Chief Justice of South Africa from 1939 to 1943 and as acting Governor-General from 1943 to 1945, holding the position of Officer Administering the Government following the death of his predecessor. Before his judicial career he had an extensive career in politics, representing constituencies in Parliament and serving as Minister of Justice for over a decade in the early twentieth century.
