Neville Dunbar Mirahawatte Samarakoon served as the thirty sixth Chief Justice of Sri Lanka from 1977 to 1984. He began practicing as an advocate in 1945, served as Crown Counsel around 1948 to 1951, and was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1968, having also served on the Sri Lankan Bar Council and its Disciplinary Board for Lawyers before his appointment as Chief Justice.
