Nelson Walker was a prominent community leader and Justice of the Peace in Nashville, Tennessee. Born enslaved, he worked as a barber and purchased freedom for himself, his wife and their four children, then went on to become a lawyer, judge and bank president in Nashville, as well as a member of the Masonic fraternity.
