Mary Cecil Tenison Woods, born Kitson, lived from December 9, 1893 to October 18, 1971, and was a South Australian lawyer and social activist. She became the first female lawyer and public notary in South Australia, and went on to write nine legal textbooks. From 1950 until 1959 she served as Chief of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. She was an early advocate for child welfare and juvenile justice in Australia.
