Martti Antero Koskenniemi, born in 1953, is a Finnish international lawyer and former diplomat. He is professor of international law at the University of Helsinki and director of the Erik Castren Institute of International Law and Human Rights, and he also holds the Centennial Professorship in the Law Department of the London School of Economics. He served in Finland's diplomatic service from 1978 to 1996 and was a member of the International Law Commission from 2002 to 2006, and he is well known for a critical approach to international law.
