Maria Pia Silva Gallinato is a Chilean legal academic who became president of the Constitutional Court of Chile on July 10, 2026. Born September 19, 1961, she graduated from the law faculty of the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile in 1984 and later earned a master degree in constitutional law from the same university, where she taught public law as a disciple of constitutionalist Alejandro Silva Bascunan. The Supreme Court designated her a minister of the Constitutional Court on June 25, 2018, for a nine-year term, making her the fourth woman to hold that office, and she has represented Chile on the Council of Europe Venice Commission since 2024.
