Sir Lyman Poore Duff was a Canadian lawyer and judge born January 7, 1865 in Meaford, Ontario, who practiced law in Ontario and British Columbia and gained recognition in mining and constitutional law before his judicial appointment. He served as a puisne justice of the Supreme Court of Canada from 1906 and was elevated to Chief Justice of Canada in 1933, holding that post until 1944; his more than thirty-seven years on the court make him its longest-serving justice. He died April 26, 1955 in Ottawa.
