Sir Louis Nwachukwu Mbanefo is noted as the first lawyer from Eastern Nigeria. He was born in Onitsha and obtained his education in the United Kingdom at a time when it was extremely rare for a person of his background to pursue higher education, let alone professional training at the bar.
