Liu Daqun is a Chinese jurist and diplomat, born September 20, 1950, in Shandong, China, who worked in China's Foreign Ministry on private international law, maritime law and criminal justice matters before being appointed Chinese Ambassador to Jamaica and permanent representative to the International Seabed Authority in 1999. He was deputy head and chief negotiator of China's delegation at the 1998 Rome conference that established the International Criminal Court. On April 3, 2000, he was sworn in as a judge of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, succeeding Wang Tieya, presided over Trial Chamber I from 2001 to 2005, and served as the tribunal's final Vice-President from 2015 to 2017; since 2012 he has also served as a judge of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals.
