Liam Hamilton (1928-2000) was an Irish judge who served as Chief Justice of Ireland from 1994 to 2000, having been President of the High Court from 1985 and a High Court judge from 1974. Born in Mitchelstown, County Cork, he practised as a barrister, notably representing Neil Blaney at the 1970 Arms Crisis trial, and acted as legal adviser to the Labour Party. He chaired the Beef Tribunal into fraud and malpractice in the beef processing industry from 1991 to 1994, and in 1999 investigated the Philip Sheedy Affair. He died in 2000, shortly after retiring as Chief Justice.
