Leonard Hubert Hoffmann, Baron Hoffmann, known as Lennie Hoffmann, was born on May 8, 1934 and is a senior South African and British judge. He serves as a Non-Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal of Hong Kong and formerly served as a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary from 1995 to 2009. He has had a large impact on the interpretation of contracts, shareholder actions in United Kingdom company law, the restriction of tort liability for public authorities, and human rights and intellectual property law, particularly patents.
