Lawrence M. Friedman

Lawrence Meir Friedman (born April 2, 1930) is an American law professor and historian of American legal history who has taught at Stanford Law School since 1968, after earlier posts at Saint Louis University and the University of Wisconsin. He received his law degrees from the University of Chicago Law School and was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1951. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, has served as president of the Law and Society Association, and holds six honorary law degrees from universities in the United States, Sweden, and Italy.
