Koka Subba Rao (1902-1976) was an Indian jurist who served as the ninth Chief Justice of India from June 1966 to April 1967, after earlier serving as the first Chief Justice of the newly created Andhra Pradesh High Court and as a judge of the Madras High Court and the Supreme Court of India. As a Supreme Court judge he delivered the landmark opinion in Golaknath v State of Punjab holding that Parliament could not amend the fundamental rights guaranteed by India constitution; he retired early from the bench to stand unsuccessfully for President of India in 1967.
