John Kenyon French Mason, known as Ken Mason (1919 to 2017), was a British medical doctor and legal scholar who became a leading figure in medical law and forensic medicine. After service as a Royal Air Force group captain and director of the Department of Aviation and Forensic Pathology from 1956 to 1973, he held the Regius Chair of Forensic Medicine at the University of Edinburgh from 1973 to 1985, and became an influential voice in medical jurisprudence and biomedical ethics. With Alexander McCall Smith he co-authored the textbook Law and Medical Ethics, first published in 1983 and still in print through a twelfth edition decades later, and he also wrote Medico-legal Aspects of Reproduction and Parenthood and Forensic Medicine for Lawyers.
