Kailas Nath Wanchoo served as the tenth Chief Justice of India, from April 1967 to February 1968. Born in 1903 in Allahabad to a Kashmiri Pandit family, he was educated at Muir Central College and Wadham College, Oxford, before serving as a judge of the Allahabad High Court and Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, then joining the Supreme Court in 1958. As Chief Justice he administered the oath of office to President Zakir Husain. Over his Supreme Court career he authored three hundred fifty five judgments across one thousand two hundred eighty six benches, and he died in 1988.
