Jules Leslie Coleman is an American legal scholar and philosopher born in 1947, specializing in jurisprudence. He held the Wesley Newcomb Hohfeld chair in jurisprudence and a professorship of philosophy at Yale Law School until 2012, and is recognized as a leading advocate of legal positivism, publishing extensively on the philosophy of law, tort theory, political philosophy and rational choice theory. He has also taught at the University of California, Berkeley, and New York University, and received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1988.
