Jonathan Philip Chadwick Sumption, Lord Sumption, is a British legal figure born on December 9, 1948. He served as a Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom from 2012 to 2018 and later as a non-permanent judge of Hong Kong's Court of Final Appeal from 2019 to 2024, after a career as a commercial barrister who took silk as Queen's Counsel in 1986. He is also a medieval historian, author of a five-volume narrative history of the Hundred Years' War.
