Roger John Laugharne Thomas, Baron Thomas of Cwmgiedd (born 22 October 1947) is a British judge who sat as a High Court judge from 1996, a Lord Justice of Appeal from 2003 to 2011, President of the Queen's Bench Division from 2011 to 2013, and Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales from 2013 to 2017. Created a life peer in October 2013, he sits in the House of Lords as a crossbencher, served as Chancellor of Aberystwyth University from 2018 to 2025, and has held international roles including the presidency of the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre and involvement with the European Law Institute.
