John Henderson Lamont

John Henderson Lamont (1865-1936) was a Canadian lawyer and political figure from Saskatchewan, born in Horning's Mills, Ontario, who earned his degrees from the University of Toronto before practicing law in Toronto and Prince Albert. He entered federal politics as a Liberal in 1904 before moving to Saskatchewan's new provincial legislature after 1905, becoming the province's first Attorney General under Premier Walter Scott and overseeing the introduction of the Torrens land title system. He was appointed to the Supreme Court of Saskatchewan and its Court of Appeal, then in 1927 became a puisne justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, the first justice from Saskatchewan to sit on that court, serving until his death in 1936.
