Jenny Lau Buong Bee, who lived from 1932 to June 9, 2013, was a lawyer and judge born in British Malaya, educated at the Methodist Girls' School before studying law at Lincoln's Inn in London. Called to the English Bar in 1957 and the Singapore Bar in 1958, she became Malaya's first woman magistrate on April 4, 1960, and in 1966 became the first woman appointed a district judge in Singapore.
