Jason de Mayno

Jason de Mayno, also known as Giasone del Maino, was an Italian jurist born in 1435 who died in 1519. He taught law at the University of Pavia and became renowned for his commentary on the Digest, one of the most widely used commentaries on that text during the sixteenth century. He combined rigorous scholastic postglossator method with classical humanist scholarship, making him a transitional figure bridging medieval and humanist approaches to jurisprudence and a forerunner of the legal humanist movement that would reshape European legal scholarship during the Renaissance.
