James Parker Smith of Jordanhill, who lived from 1854 to 1929, was a Scottish barrister and Liberal Unionist politician. Qualified as a barrister in 1888, he represented the Partick constituency in the House of Commons from 1890 to 1906, having first won the seat at a by-election. He was sworn to the Privy Council in 1904, elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1921, and later served as warden of the college at Winchester from 1915. He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, graduating as fourth Wrangler in mathematics in 1877.
