Ivor Richardson (1930 to 2014) was a New Zealand jurist who taught law at Victoria University from 1967 to 1973 before becoming a High Court judge in 1977 and a judge of the Court of Appeal of New Zealand in 1978. He served as President of the Court of Appeal from 1996 to 2002, and was also a member of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. His scholarship on tax law and policy shaped New Zealand's regulatory framework from the 1980s onward, and after retiring from the New Zealand bench he was appointed to Hong Kong's Court of Final Appeal in 2003. He was knighted in 1986 and made a Principal Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2002.
