Isa ibn Aban, full name Abu Musa Isa ibn Aban, was an early Sunni Islamic scholar who followed the Hanafi school of jurisprudence. None of his own works survive, but he was quoted extensively by early Hanafi scholars such as al-Jassas on questions of legal methodology, or usul al-fiqh. He studied under Muhammad al-Shaybani, a direct student of the schools founder Abu Hanifa, so his recorded views are treated as broadly representative of Abu Hanifas own positions on the sources of law.
