Ibn al-Rifah, full name Najm al-Din Abu al-Abbas Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn al-Rifa, was regarded as the leading Shafii jurist in Mamluk Egypt, praised for his unparalleled expertise in Islamic jurisprudence and hadith and known mainly for his commentaries on earlier works of law. His most famous teacher was Ibn Daqiq al-Id and his most famous student was Taqi al-Din al-Subki.
