Ian Duncan Burnett, Baron Burnett of Maldon (born 28 February 1958) is a British judge who was called to the bar in 1980, took silk as Queen's Counsel in 1998 specializing in public and administrative law, and served as a judge of the High Court from 2008 and a Lord Justice of Appeal from 2014 before serving as Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales from 2 October 2017 to 30 September 2023, becoming, at 59, the youngest holder of the office since Lord Parker of Waddington in 1958. Given a life peerage as Baron Burnett of Maldon in 2017, he became Chief Justice of the Astana International Financial Centre Court in Kazakhstan after his retirement in 2023 and joined the Constitution Committee of the House of Lords in 2024.
