Humphrey O'Leary (1886-1953) was a New Zealand jurist who served as the seventh Chief Justice of New Zealand from 1946 until his death in 1953. Born in Redwoodtown, Marlborough, to an Irish immigrant family, he won a scholarship to Wellington College and completed his legal training at Victoria College, gaining his law degree in 1908. He practised in private partnerships and joined the Wellington firm Bell Gully in 1919, was made King's Counsel in 1935, and served as president of the New Zealand Law Society from 1935 to 1946. He was knighted in the 1947 New Year Honours.
