Henry of Bath

Henry of Bath, also known as Henry de Bathonia, was an English judge and administrator who died in November 1260. He served as Chief Justice of the Common Pleas in two spells, from 1245 to 1249 and again from 1256 to 1258, and as Lord Chief Justice of England from 1253 to 1260 during the reign of Henry III. He also served as high sheriff of Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire, Surrey, Sussex and Yorkshire and sat as a justice on several legal circuits. Around 1250 to 1251 he faced serious accusations of obstructing justice and was fined 2,000 marks, part of which remained unpaid when he died.
