Hayati binti Haji Mohd Salleh is a Bruneian magistrate and jurist who became Brunei's first female judge, its first female High Court Judge on the Supreme Court on January 1, 2001, and its first female Attorney General, serving from August 4, 2009, to August 18, 2018, a post upgraded to ministerial status on May 29, 2010. Educated at Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien College and Exeter College of Further Education in the United Kingdom, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Law from the University of Exeter in 1979 and qualified as a barrister of Lincoln's Inn in 1980, becoming the first Bruneian Malay woman called to the English Bar. She rose through Brunei's judiciary as a legal counsel and deputy public prosecutor, magistrate, chief magistrate and deputy chief registrar, chief registrar, and judicial commissioner before her High Court appointment.
