Sir Harry Talbot Gibbs (1917 to 2005) was an Australian jurist who served as Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia from 1981 to 1987, after an earlier term as a Justice from 1970 to 1981. Regarded as one of Australia's leading federalist judges, he dissented in landmark cases such as Koowarta v Bjelke-Petersen (1982) and Commonwealth v Tasmania (1983), which expanded Commonwealth power at the expense of the states.
