Herbert Vere Evatt (1894 to 1965) was an Australian politician and judge who served as a Justice of the High Court of Australia before becoming Attorney-General and Foreign Minister from 1941 to 1949. He was President of the United Nations General Assembly in 1948 and 1949, helping to draft the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and later led the Australian Labor Party as opposition leader from 1951 to 1960.
