H. M. Seervai (1906-1996) was an Indian jurist and constitutional lawyer whose 1967 treatise Constitutional Law of India, A Critical Commentary became a standard reference cited widely in Indian courts and influenced the Supreme Court 1973 Kesavananda Bharati decision establishing the basic structure doctrine that limits Parliament power to amend the constitution.
