Godfrey Chidyausiku was a Zimbabwean judge and politician who served as Chief Justice of Zimbabwe from July 2001 until his retirement in March 2017. He studied law at the University of Rhodesia in the early 1970s and later sat in the Rhodesian and then Zimbabwean House of Assembly as a ZANU-PF representative, serving as a deputy minister from 1980 and as Attorney-General from 1982 to 1989. In 1999 he chaired Zimbabwe's Constitutional Convention, drafting a document critics said had been shaped to guarantee an executive presidency, which Zimbabwean voters rejected in a February 2000 referendum; he died in May 2017 and was buried at the National Heroes' Acre in Harare.
