Gabriel Riesser, who lived from April 2, 1806 to April 22, 1863, was a German politician and lawyer, and served as one of the Vice-Presidents of the 1848 Frankfurt Parliament, Germany's first freely elected national legislature, where he was among the leading legal advocates for the civil emancipation of German Jews.
